Details

We will paddle south on Simpson Creek, get out of our kayaks for a short break after an hour and then continue for another hour to the white sand beach at the Fort George Inlet where we will get out of our kayaks for lunch. Simpson Creek is a winding creek in a salt march. You will see fish jumping and a variety of birds.

We will paddle with the lowering tide as we paddle south and we will paddle with the rising tide as we paddle north.

Please arrive at 9:30. We will launch from the regular boat ramp at 10.

If you launch after 10:30 or you return before 2:30, you will have to use the dock at PADL Amelia to launch or land because there will not be enough water near low tide at 12:10 pm to use the regular PADL Amelia boat launch.

PADL Ameila charges $2 per kayak to launch, but will not charge you anytihng if you show an Annaul Florida Park Pass.

Total time on land and water: 5 - 5.5 hours
Total paddling distance: 8 miles
Kayaking level: intermediate or advanced
Tides: Low 12:10 pm and High 6:30 pm

Please bring a PFD, whistle, water, sunscreen, lunch or a snack and a chair if you would like a chair for the lunch break.

If you have not already done so, please sign the Florida Sea Kayaking Release on the Florida Sea Kayaking Meetup page before driving to PADL Amelia.

Please check this website in the afternoon or evening the day before the paddle to see if there is a postponement due to a bad weather forecast. If I do not post a postponement by noon the day before the paddle, we will be kayaking at the scheduled time the next day.
