ā³ Agenda
18.30 - Flutter Riga intro
18.40 - 19:20 - RÅ«dolfs Agris Stilve (Software Engineer (Product) @ HackMotion) - "Is your app really faster with āconstā?"Bad performance can sour an otherwise great user experience. While the Flutter framework provides great performance already, as developers we still have to be mindful of performance as we implement new functionality.
When writing Dart code, one tool to use is the āconstā keyword, used to specify that a particular value can not change as the app runs. Recently an automatic warning, encouraging use of āconstā wherever possible, has been disabled by default. Should you turn it back on?
The basis of this talk is an experiment, where all use of āconstā keywords has been ejected from a 60k+ LoC production app. Weāll explore whether using āconstā provides a measurable performance benefit for Flutter applications, and how embracing āconstā may help you write cleaner code. This talk is aimed at Flutter developers of all experience levels.
19.20 - 19.30 - Coffee Break ā
19.30 - 20.00 - Roman Ismagilov (Senior Flutter Developer) - "Common mistakes with Flutter"
In this workshop, we'll take a look at a set of recurring mistakes I see from project to project. These seemingly small issues can add up, making the app feel less refined or āpremiumā in users' eyes.
Our focus will be on ListViews, Images, and Text. These core widgets appear in nearly every interface, and how they are implemented can have a major impact on both aesthetics and usability.
More concretely, we'll go through and fix such pitfalls as broken lazy loading, excess size calculations, memory leaks, improper caching, and layout overflows. Iāll also briefly show how to use DevTools to diagnose these kinds of issues.
20.00 - 21.00 - Pizza & Networking šš
