Gary is an AFF member who travels extensively to fly fish in both fresh and saltwater destinations. He has fished throughout the mountain west and his favorite place to trout fish is Yellowstone Nation Park. Over 17 years he has amassed a wealth of knowledge about Yellowstone and he will share in his presentation including where to fish, fly selection, gear, where to stay and more. If you have never fished Yellowstone, or have fished it many times before, don't miss this fun and informative presentation which will reveal some secret honey holes you won't find in any quidebook!

Aaron says at the 0.8 mile pool there are big carp and Guadalupes and that it may be the best fishing of your year. 🤩🎣

It is much easier to walk from the swimming pool to get to the deep pools quickly than walking downstream from the Riverwalk Park Pedestrian Bridge. I know the short cuts to get to the creek. I have caught Guadalupe Bass and several types of sunfish. The longear sunfish are a brilliant turquoise green. I'll post a pic of it.

It's about 0.8 miles downstream to the deep pools close to the Cemetery. Brushy Creek is beautiful, especially the limestone cliffs at the Cemetery. There’s two or three pools that are long, deep and green. There's even a large limestone rock that you can set on and fish from. There is an exit spot at the Cemetery. Someone would need to pick us up there, since I don't think parking is legal in the Cemetery.

It’s best for us to walk back upstream to the swimming pool parking lot. I haven’t explored past the 0.8 mile mark yet. So, if anyone wants to check it out feel free. It would be easy to spend more than three hours fishing here on this beautiful part of Brushy Creek.

There is no hiding it, trash is everywhere.
Lets do our part and take care of our water. I will encourage you to go pick up trash in or near a local water source, but you're always welcome to join me to pick up trash along different parts of Brushy Creek. We picked up a lot of trash around Memorial Park and will continue to make this the focus of our effort.

After picking up trash, get a line wet or plan to head to Living Warters fly shop if there is a scheduled event.
