About us
Welcome to Fly Fishing Texas (formerly Central Texas Fly Fishing Adventure Group)! This group is dedicated to bringing together fly anglers of all levels to share their passion for fly fishing. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or just starting, we welcome you to join us.
Our goal is to build a friendly, welcoming community where individuals can develop their angler network for times when they don’t want to fish alone. We offer a variety of events and activities to help you improve your skills and connect with other fly anglers. Our events include beginner classes, casting practice evenings, Workshops on the Water, fishing excursions throughout Texas to get on the water, virtual fly-tying nights, various speaking events, camping weekends, and even trips out of state.
Join us for our next event and meet other fly anglers who share your passion for fly fishing!

We often get questions along the lines of “How will I know what fly to use and when?” While there is no shortcut for time and experience, there is a path of study that can prepare you for most destinations: learning to identify your aquatic and terrestrial insects!
In this hands-on class, you’ll learn to identify local aquatic insect species, how to properly match your Hill Country hatch, and the part our insects play in fly selection and design. This class is fun for kids and adults alike! If you would like to be part of the sampling, please wear waders and boots! Otherwise, the remainder of class will take place on the bank.1 attendee
