About us
Welcome to Fly Fishing Texas (formerly Central Texas Fly Fishing Adventure Group)! This group is dedicated to bringing together fly anglers of all levels to share their passion for fly fishing. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or just starting, we welcome you to join us.
Our goal is to build a friendly, welcoming community where individuals can develop their angler network for times when they don’t want to fish alone. We offer a variety of events and activities to help you improve your skills and connect with other fly anglers. Our events include beginner classes, casting practice evenings, Workshops on the Water, fishing excursions throughout Texas to get on the water, virtual fly-tying nights, various speaking events, camping weekends, and even trips out of state.
Join us for our next event and meet other fly anglers who share your passion for fly fishing!

At 7:00 pm John Botros
Former aquatic biologist, John Botros developed a new fly fishing app, the Texas Fly Fishing Journal.
The Texas Fly Fishing Journal is a catch-logging and trip-tracking app built specifically for fly fishers on Texas water. At its core, it lets anglers log individual catches, species, length, gear, location, photo and build a personal fishing journal over time. Catches are organized by trip, mapped to Texas water bodies, and stored in a searchable log that doesn’t require an internet connection to use. You can log on the water, upload when you get home.
A built-in species browser covers more than 100 species found in Texas waters, and organized to reflect what fly anglers actually encounter. Texas water bodies are pre-loaded in the location database, and users can add new ones if their local spot isn’t listed yet.
The app is free to download including access to the leaderboard, Trophy Wall, and bulk photo import. At 7:15 pm K. C. Williams
K.C. Williams is the owner of Laguna Rio Outdoors, a guide service specializing in Western Hill Country floats and uniquely-curated group trips to Belize, New Mexico, the Texas coast, and beyond. A native Houstonian, K.C. has a special love for Texas beaches, where he spent so many weekends and summers growing up. Over the last 30+ years, he has fished the surf and jetties relentlessly and has developed his own methods and techniques for catching a variety of saltwater species on the fly, which he now shares with friends and clients.Class Description: Fly Fishing Texas Beaches
With over 360 miles of public beaches, the Texas Gulf coast is a surf-angler’s dream! In this presentation, K.C. will discuss how to read and fly fish the surf effectively, how to choose the right equipment, what flies to pack and how to rig them, as well as access points, favorite target, and so much more. You’ll come away with a deeper understanding of how to approach Texas beach fishing and practical techniques you can apply to the surf anywhere.Austin Fly Fishers Quarterly Newsletter
