What we’re about
Welcome to Fly Fishing Texas (formerly Central Texas Fly Fishing Adventure Group)! This group is dedicated to bringing together fly anglers of all levels to share their passion for fly fishing. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or just starting, we welcome you to join us.
Our goal is to build a friendly, welcoming community where individuals can develop their angler network for times when they don’t want to fish alone. We offer a variety of events and activities to help you improve your skills and connect with other fly anglers. Our events include beginner classes, casting practice evenings, Workshops on the Water, fishing excursions throughout Texas to get on the water, virtual fly-tying nights, various speaking events, camping weekends, and even trips out of state.
Join us for our next event and meet other fly anglers who share your passion for fly fishing!

The Hutto Cemetary Wade At Riverwalk Park
Location not specified yetMeet Here!
Have you read Aaron Reed's book Fly Fishing in Austin and Central Texas yet? 🤔❓Let's have our rods rigged up and ready to walk at 8 am. Bring water with you!
Aaron says at the 0.8-mile pool, there are big carp and Guadalupes, and that it may be the best fishing of your year. 🤩🎣
I have found that parking and starting near the Swimming Pool here:

It is much easier to walk from the swimming pool to get to the deep pools quickly than to walk downstream from the Riverwalk Park Pedestrian Bridge. I know the shortcuts to get to the creek. I have caught Guadalupe Bass and several types of sunfish. The longear sunfish are a brilliant turquoise green. I'll post a pic of it.
It's about 0.8 miles downstream to the deep pools close to the Cemetery. Brushy Creek is beautiful, especially the limestone cliffs at the Cemetery. There are two or three long, deep, green pools. There's even a large limestone rock that you can sit on and fish from. There is an exit spot at the Cemetery. Someone would need to pick us up there, since I don't think parking is legal in the Cemetery.
We should walk back upstream to the swimming pool parking lot. I haven’t explored past the 0.8-mile mark yet. So, if anyone wants to check it out, feel free. It would be easy to spend more than three hours fishing here on this beautiful part of Brushy Creek.5 attendees
