I was introduced to this section of the San Marcos earlier this year. You do need a kayak or paddle board to float this section of the river. Parking passes can be purchased at Spencer Canoes, but you can park for free across the road this early in the morning without any problem.

My plan is to be there at 6:15 am. Get my gear organized, and be off the "boat ramp" no later than 7:00 am. Paddle upstream fishing along the way and float back down. I plan to be off the water around 11ish pm, but of course, you're welcome to stay longer or turn back sooner at any time.

The water is calm and the current was slow. Water is deep the most of the entire stretch, 6+ feet. sinking lines and/or beaded flies with Fluorocarbon leaders are recommended. There is some wet wading spots, but its a long paddle to get to them.

Hope to see you on the water!

Wind has the potential to be a problem here. This may be moved if the wind speeds are up.
