This is another gem location shared in Aaron Reed's The Local Angler's Fly Fishing Austin and Central Texas, page 261. It is located off of Hwy 290 on RM 1320 east of Stonewall, Texas.

This section of the river is upstream of Pedernales Falls State Park and offers many deep pools and structure for bluegill, a variety of beautiful sunfish, bass, Rio, and Carp. A two-hour wade upstream is reserved for the brave, while the waters immediately upstream of the bridge offer plenty of bite and room for casting practice.

I am going to aim for an early start to beat the heat, and I will be free for lunch after fishing. Please bring water, sunscreen, polarized sunglasses, and any other safety gear as needed. Proper footwear is essential, as small rocks and slick rocks can make fishing uncomfortable and unsafe.

Please ensure you have a freshwater fishing license! You can buy them at the Academy or Online.
