August 4, 11, 18, 25
Mondays, 7:45pm – 9pm
Week I: Sit & Spin
Explore how the silk moves—spinning, rotating, and revolving around the pole. Learn how to control your rotation using subtle body adjustments to increase or decrease momentum.
Week II: Hang On – Wrist Wraps & Locks
Discover the difference between a wrist wrap and a wrist lock. We’ll focus on shoulder engagement and explore tricks that safely utilize these techniques.
Week III: Inversions & Shapes
Time to go upside down! We’ll explore several entry options for inverting, then play with leg positions, shapes, and creative body lines in the air.
Week IV: Leg Wraps
Learn various leg wrap techniques to create long, elegant lines, dramatic splits, and tiny dynamic transitions (aka “teensy tumbles”).
Bonus: Playtime!
Bring it all together in a guided open-style session. Use this time to revisit favorite moves, ask questions, and explore combinations. Your teacher is there for support, spotting, and suggestions!
Prerequisite: This series is ideal for folks who have some experience with pole, silks/hammock, or both.
Cost of workshop: $200 (does not include hammock rental)
About your instructor: Yatty began her pole dancing journey in 2013—living the classic bored housewife trope—and fell in love from her very first spin. About a year and a half later, she began teaching at F.I.T. 4 Polers in Alexandria, VA, and now leads classes and workshops throughout the D.C. metro area. You can catch Yatty at Flying Buddha on Tuesdays, where she teaches Wake & Work and Let’s Dance!
