Fellowship of Freethought is hosting a “First Day Hike” at the Arbor Hills Nature Preserve in Plano, Texas. This is the perfect opportunity to partake in a nationwide tradition, start the year out on the right foot, enjoy nature, and exercise with fellowship.

Hiking options include 3 miles of paved and 3.5 miles of unpaved hiking trails which the group can decide between based on weather conditions. Optional short jaunt to the observation tower is also available. Departure for our group hike will be at 10:15 AM, so please don’t be late. Dress according to the weather, bring water, and wear comfortable walking or hiking shoes. The only bathroom facilities available are located by the parking lot and pavilion.

As people walk at different paces, let’s try to pace ourselves well, stay together, and enjoy the scenery and camaraderie. Estimation of the event is approximately 1.5 hours depending on routes we take, pace, and detours. Dogs are allowed in the park on leash but might not be practical with a pedestrian hiking group.

Optional: When the hiking is over, those who are interested in lunch are welcome to head to a local restaurant and enjoy a casual lunch together.
