🏳️‍🌈 FOF Dallas Goes to Pride — Let's Watch the Parade Together!

Dallas Pride is doing something exciting this year — the parade is moving downtown to Main Street and going full sunset spectacular, kicking off at 7:00 PM on Saturday, June 6. Join the Fellowship of Freethought Dallas as we gather to watch from the sidelines together. We won't have a float entry, but we will have something just as good: each other, a great spot, and a solid plan to make sure everyone has a wonderful, comfortable time.

📍 WHERE TO MEET
We'll meet at the corner of Harwood & Main Street — the east end of the parade route, on the southwest corner by the park. Your host will arrive first and post updates if needed in the event comments (below), so make sure you have the Meetup app loaded on your phone with notifications on.

🕕 WHEN
The parade kicks off at 7:00 PM. Aim to arrive and find us between 6:00–6:15 PM so we can get settled together before the crowds thicken. Earlier is always better if you want a front-row spot!

WHY THE HARWOOD STREET END?
We've picked this spot deliberately. It's less crowded than the middle of the route, easier to navigate for everyone, and — crucially — puts us in perfect position for a fast, clean exit when the parade wraps up. No fighting through thousands of people!

☀️ IT WILL BE HOT — PLEASE COME PREPARED
June in Dallas is no joke, even at 7 PM. Suggested items to bring:
• A filled water bottle (32 oz or larger — insulated if you have one)
• Electrolyte packets (Liquid IV, Nuun, etc.)
• A wide-brim hat
• A handheld fan or misting fan
• Sunscreen — and reapply before you leave home!
• Light, loose, light-colored clothing

🚇 GETTING THERE
We strongly recommend DART light rail — parking downtown on Pride day is extremely limited and stressful. The Red, Blue, and Orange lines all have downtown stops within easy walking distance. Load a day pass on the DART app before you leave home so you're not fumbling with ticket machines. If you're driving, park in a garage in the Arts District area (north/east of downtown) rather than near the parade route.

💬 STAY CONNECTED ON THE DAY
We'll be communicating through the Meetup event comments — so make sure you have the Meetup app on your phone and notifications turned on! Refer to the map below for exact meetup location. Check the comments if you're running late or need help finding the group.

🚪 THE EXIT PLAN (yes, we have one!)
We'll leave as soon as the parade ends at 9 PM. Walk one block south on Harwood to Commerce Street — that's our post-parade regrouping point. From there it's a clean DART or rideshare ride home, well away from the Main Street crowd chaos. If you're using Uber or Lyft, set up your request at 8:45 PM before the parade ends to beat the surge.
