Authentic Quiadaiyn Oaxacan Mexican Lunch 4.7 Stars Yelp Patio West LA

Details
Located on Venice Blvd in Mar Visa, this family-run authentic Oaxacan restaurant has been on my bucket list for a couple of years, We went at the beginning of Covid and it was wonderful. Time to return.
We will be dining outdoors on their patio in the middle of a warm, sunny day. The website shows pictures of their patio dining.
I will have to come back multiple times as there are at least a dozen items on their great menu that I want to try.
Quiadaiyn received a glowing review from the LA Times.
Sorry I don't have the link but you can probably google it.
The authentic Oaxacan menu is diverse.
Some people passed on this restaurant as they think Mexican food is all about tacos and burritos.
In fact, Mexico has 32 different states with dozens of different regional cuisines. Even Mexico City has several different cuisines. Los Angeles is a Mexican culinary melting pot if you seek it out.
They serve unique Oaxacan breakfasts that you have to check out on their website; I have never seen
them offered in other Oaxacan restaurants.
What intrigues me is their Tlayuda Mixta
which is a 12 inch cripsy corn tortil
la with asiento (unrefined pork lard),
black bean sauce, quesillo (Oaxacan cheese), cabbage, tomato, avocado, and salsa. Topped with tasajo (beef jerky), cecina (dry salted beef like jerky), and choriza (sausage).
Of course they have the popular moles
100% made in the restaurant which many restaurants cannot claim
5 different including
mole negro, mole coloradita, mole amarillo, mole chicilo, and mole verde
10 different authentic Oaxacan appetizers.
What speaks to me is their
Molotesc
4 corn based pastries stuffed with potatoes and chorizo, topped with
black bean sauce, cabbage, queso (cheese), and salsa
Tired of not enough shrimp in your shrimp cocktail? Look no further!
Ceviche en chile de agua (Oaxacan chile): this is ONE POUND of shrimp ceviche cooked in lime juice and marinated with chile de agua, cilantra, and onion
Also from the menu:
5 different fish and shrimp dishes
Barbacoa (goat)
Regular Mexican fare:
fajitas, enchiladas, burritos, taquitos, quesadillas, chile relenos
Chicken and also beef soups
For the adventuresome, a chance to try the protein of the future:
Chapulines Salteadas
sauteed grasshoppers with molcajete (mortar and pestle) ground salsa-
We will be able to order both the breakfast menu & the lunch/dinner menus
This restaurant is vegetarian-friendly.
There are vegan mole dishes.
veggie enchiladas, zucchini fajitas, grilled cacus bowl, etc
The menu lists if some dishes have lard or do not have lard.
