NOTE: You can join for any part of the schedule. The short, easy hikes provide multiple opportunities for you to join in, if you are running late.
Meetup Schedule:
- 09:45 AM: Carpool leaves from Uptown, Charlotte.
- 12:30 PM: Meet at DuPont
- 12:45 PM: Hike starts from Hooker Falls Access Area
- 03:15 PM: Drive to Looking Glass Falls
- 03:45 PM: Hike starts from Looking Glass Falls
- 04:30 PM: Head to a preference or our voted local restaurant
- 05:30 PM: Head back to Charlotte.

DuPont State Recreational Forest: Three Waterfalls Hike
- Meeting Time at DuPont: 12:30 p.m.
- Location: Hooker Falls Access Area, Parking lot, Dupont State Forest, Hendersonville, NC 28739
- Hike Duration: 12:45 p.m. to 3:15 p.m.
- Details: The 3-4 mile loop is a mix of easy and moderate hiking that takes you to Hooker, Triple, and High Falls.
- Safety: Do not swim or wade at Triple and High Falls due to strong currents.
- Elevation Gain: 160 feet

Details: Hooker Falls, .4 miles each way Triple Falls, .5 mile from Hooker Falls Parking Lot High Falls Trail, .5 mile from Triple Falls, 2.2 miles total for all three falls. Hooker Falls, 15 minutes each way; Triple Falls, 15 minutes from Hooker Falls Parking Lot; High Falls, 15 minutes from Triple Falls
Looking Glass Falls Hike
- Travel Time: 3:15 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. (approx. 25-minute drive)
- Meeting Time at Looking Glass: 3:45 p.m.
- Location: Looking Glass Falls parking area
- Hike Duration: 10-15 minutes
- Details: A short, paved path leads to an observation deck for great views of the falls.
What to Bring
- Water, snacks, and lunch.
- Layered and waterproof clothing.
- Sturdy, waterproof hiking boots.
- First-aid kit, bug spary and sunscreen.
- A Sense of Adventure!
Pet Information
Leashed pets are welcome on designated trails at both DuPont Forest and Looking Glass Falls. Owners must keep pets on a physical leash and manage their waste.
Pace & Fun: We'll be keeping a moderately easy pace, so whether you're a seasoned hiker or just starting out, you'll be able to enjoy the beautiful scenery.
