Hike #9 :: Hutchinson Homestead #10 : Stone Mountain Falls #11 : Summit

Meetup Schedule / Itinerary:

• 09:30 am Carpool, start from Charlotte
• 11:00 am Meet at Stone Mountain, NC
• 11:15 am Start the hikes.
• 02:45 pm Leave from Stone Mountain
• We can go to any local restaurant voted by most at the hike.

NOTE: This summit is not for beginners. You will face a steep ascent to the summit. This moderate-to-strenuous 4.9-mile hike covers the park's highlights in about 3 hours.

Entry: Parking is free. The best route for the loop is from the Upper Trailhead, located on the park's eastern side.

Route Breakdown:
Hike #9 :: Hike to Stone Mountain Falls

• Start at the Upper Trailhead: Begin on the short spur trail that leads to the main loop. Turn left onto the loop trail and head towards the picturesque, 200-foot waterfall. Enjoy the view before continuing on the path.

Hike #10 :: Hutchinson Homestead

• Explore the Hutchinson Homestead: The trail passes by the Hutchinson family's restored cabin and barn. This historic site offers a glimpse into the park's history.

Hike #11 :: Stone Mountain Summit

• Climb to the summit: Begin the steepest section of the hike—a climb up the vast, exposed granite face of the dome. Cables are installed for assistance. This is the most strenuous part of the journey and provides an incredible view.
• Descend and complete the loop: After taking in the panoramic vistas from the top, you will descend and rejoin the loop trail to return to your vehicle.

What to Bring

• Lots of Water and snacks.
• Layered and waterproof clothing and thin layers for the cold.
• Sturdy, waterproof hiking boots.
• First-aid kit, bug spray and sunscreen.
• A Sense of Adventure!

Pet Information
As the hike is strenuous, it is generally recommended not to bring pets.

Pace & Fun: We'll be keeping a moderately easy pace, so whether you're a seasoned hiker or just starting out, you'll be able to enjoy the beautiful scenery.

The weather is expected to be mainly sunny with some clouds, making the hike comfortable.
