An absolute total of ZERO people came for the last round.
I don't get it. Stockholm had a few huge demonstrations but no software people wanna come for this?
Let's try this one more time and then maybe I'll just give up.
Big tech like Microsoft, Google, and Amazon support the genocide of Palestinians.
In addition, US-based tech companies have become liabilities for human rights and democracy. E.g.: Trump has placed sanctions on the International Criminal Court's chief prosecutor and "Microsoft... cancelled the Khan’s email address, forcing the prosecutor to move to Proton Mail, a Swiss email provider, ICC staffers said. His bank accounts in his home country of the United Kingdom have been blocked." (AP news, 15 May 2025).
Despite these, we continue to use them. It's so difficult for us software engineers to find equally good alternatives for crucial things like devops.
I have no solution. In this session I would like for us to research and think about whether or not there are solutions, and if not, can we build our way out of this situation?
For instance, we want to know if the other platforms like Linode, Digital Ocean, Hetzner, GitLab, etc, are ok to use (Linode is apparently not ok). If they're not, then is it reasonable to attempt building a managed k8s service that uses EU-based VPS providers to make it easier for devs to BDS? Even if we do that, how can we sure EU-based providers aren't supporting genocide? Is it still a feasible strategy regardless?
No organisation is sponsoring or supporting this event. It's just me trying to do something and hoping people will join me.

We can do this either remotely or in person.
If remote, text me directly and let me know you wanna chat. we can use whatever platform. signal, discord, etc.
If in person: usually few or nobody comes. So, because I don't want to make a wasted trip, please do not just register on meetup. If you are really, really coming, text me directly to tell me. Then we can figure out a venue. I will come out if at least one person wants to do this. Else I will be lazing comfortably at home, thank you very much.
