About us

🌿 WELCOME

Kia Ora, Ni Hao, Hello wonderful people…

We’re the Boomers — the generation that’s seen a thing or two. We’ve raised families, had divorces, built homes, rented long term, lived and worked here or overseas, weathered storms, had children or not and walked roads that sometimes got rocky. And now here we are — at another crossroads.

Maybe it’s retirement, a change in life, a goodbye, or just feeling like the road or trail you knew has split in two. You’re not alone. We’ve all stood there.

But here’s what we know — something good always happens on the weekend.

🚗 WHAT WE’RE ABOUT — Different from the rest. We drive slow most of the time. Or fast ..We can choose..

Join the Fork Folk ! We're aiming to be a friendly bunch of all nations, of 50's, 60's, and 70's...or anyone young at heart. .
We're adventurers who choose the fun road..Weekend drives, or mid week sometimes events...easy bush walks, long lunches or dinners, or a scenic drive to watch sunsets..or sunrise..waking up in a tent. .or a motor home ..or somewhere completly new ..or familiar...with plenty of laughs around Auckland and beyond,,shared food, and a glass of wine or a beer..or water..at the beach, or on a night hike if you’re fit or can decide to exercise more..

Couples, singles, new to Auckland , all ages are welcome..in the Fork Folk family.

This is not about loud bars, crowded nights, or keeping up appearances...

We come together because we want to appreciate life — gently, joyfully, and together.

🌿 WHAT WE DO — Something for every mood

- 🚗 Weekend Road Trips — open roads, coastal views, stopping whenever we want
- 🥾 Slow Hikes & Nature Walks — breathe deep, look around, no rush, just being
- ☀️ Outdoor Adventures — picnics, beaches, parks, whatever feels right
- ☕ Indoor Gatherings — shared lunches, board games, movie afternoons, cosy chats
- 💛 Simply Being — no pressure to perform, just to be yourself

💛 WHO THIS IS FOR

If you’ve reached a place where life looks different than you imagined — whether it’s change, loss, new beginnings, or just ready to find your people — you belong here.

We don’t need to have it all figured out. We just need to be moving forward — side by side.

📍 WHY "FORK IN THE ROAD"?

Because life doesn’t always go straight. Sometimes it hands us things we never expected — the curve balls, the shifts, the surprises. But every turn — every fork — brings new possibilities we never would have found otherwise.

"The road ahead might be different than the one behind — but it’s ours to travel together."

Come join us. The engine’s running. The view is beautiful. And we’ve saved you a seat. 🙏✨

👤 ABOUT YOUR GUIDE — STEPHEN

Hi, I’m Stephen — 64, cleaner, walker, cancer survivor, recently single...again...a lifelong optimist.. I’ve stood at my own fork more than once. I’ve learned that when life shifts — it’s not the end of the story. It’s just the start of a new chapter.

Road trips have always been my joy — the open road, fresh air, good company. And I’ve noticed something: the best conversations happen when we’re moving.

I started this club because I know how it feels to wonder “what now?” — and I know how much brighter everything looks when we’re not wondering it alone.

“We don’t need the map to take the next turn — we just need each other....take a fork in the road with us ”

Dreamers Cafe Brunch & Chat With other Fork Folk - Remuera

Dreamers Cafe Brunch & Chat With other Fork Folk - Remuera

Dreamers Cafe, 148 Great South Road Remuera, Auckland, NZ

Hello Fork Folks...Let's start off with a Sunday morning Brunch over Labour Weekend...Monday is a Public Holiday with our first event on Fork in the Road together at my local favourite an old school chum recommended ..and has become a return visit for many ....at Dreamers Cafe in Remuera on Great South Road nearby other food places that may suit others keen on making our group a memorable day.

Dreamers Cafe is set in an old villa/house offering indoor seating amongst the antique style tables...and charming decor..however its outdoors where many people return to Dreamers Cafe on a day perfect for eating outdoors together.

The charming back garden offers a peaceful, almost nature connection to escape from the noise of Great South Road.
The back garden and the trees and flowers here in this hidden courtyard is spacious enough for tables to sit at.. gather, eat and drink chat, and still be separate from others..and there's an outdoors loo/toilet.

With a menu crammed full with Kiwi classics with a hard working Thai boss lady..who calls everyone Darling ..there's something here
to satisfy everyone's Breakfast/ Brunch options..To suit budget minded people...nothing is over $30...much food here at Dreamers Cafe are less ..I recommend their excellent toasted sandwiches served on a plate..with a knife and fork. .perfect for us Fork Folks looking for a laid back Sunday morning place to enjoy spending quality time together.

With plenty of off free Parking in nearby streets..I suggest Mt St John or Dunkerron Ave off Market Road to park cars.

When - Sunday 25th October- 2026.

Meet and Greet is 10.30am

148 Great South Rd. Remuera. Auckland.

Budget $15 to $30 for most plated food . PLEASE come to eat..and not just for the Coffee..as This Event is Limited to 15 Hungry Fork Folk.

Transportation- Carpooling

If you need a ride or have space in your car for other Fork Folk ..add your comment below. Give your Driver some money towards petrol costs..I suggest $10 person if you live in Central Auckland..perhaps more if you’re somewhere further away.

There's also buses available that pass by Newmarket going to Greenlane.

For simplicity this Fork in the Road Event is limited to 15 .

This will probably reduce to less on the day, as such we all make choices, yet take another Fork in the Road on the day.

Let's gather inside or out in the back garden at Dreamers Cafe .

Any questions please contact me.

Thanks for your interest..More Events Coming Up..including a highlight of mine ..a Countryside Road Trip to Nikau Cafe at Waikaretu.

More details coming up.
