"The feature film Forks Over Knives examines the profound claim that most, if not all, of the degenerative diseases that afflict us can be controlled, or even reversed, by rejecting animal-based and processed foods."

Watching Forks over Knives was an eye opening, and life changing experience for us. We have shared this book and movie with friends and family, and want to start a meetup group for all who are interested in becoming healthier and eating a plant based, whole foods diet.

Even if you haven't seen the book or movie, that's ok. That's what this group is for. We would like for the group to get together and discuss the book and movie and how to transition to a healthier way of eating.

This group is a great opportunity to meet like minded people who find that transitioning to a whole-foods, plant based diet is sometimes not all that easy! Where do we start? What CAN we eat? How can we be sure that what we are eating is the best choose? How can I live without cheese, or chocolate?!  :-)  Can this plant based, whole food diet help with medical issues, such as diabetes, cancer, etc.?

This is not necessarily a 'health group' per say. It's a support group, a social group, and a cooking group. We all just want to eat better and live a healthier lifestyle. Let's share thoughts, struggles, and recipes to get healthy.

I am a Board-certified Lifestyle Medicine Professional, certified by the American College of Lifestyle Medicine and the International Board of Lifestyle Medicine. The Forks Over Knives movie features some of the pioneers of Lifestyle Medicine, including Drs. Esselstyn, Ornish, Barnard, Campbell and others. Lifestyle Medicine is the newest branch of the American Medical Association, dedicated to empowering people to prevent, reverse and treat chronic disease conditions using lifestyle approaches in the areas of nutrition, physical activity, sleep, emotional well-being, healthy relationships and abusive substance reduction. Lifestyle Medicine supports a whole food, plant-based, oil-free diet as the most effective nutritional approach to health and longevity.
