# Celebrating NKT Day!
# On NKT Day, we commemorate the founding of the New Kadampa Tradition - International Kadampa Buddhist Union (NKT-IKBU) by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso in 1991.
The first Saturday in April is set aside to commemorate the founding of NKT-IKBU by Venerable Geshe Kelsang in 1991.
The occasion is marked by special events, chanted prayers, and dedications at Kadampa centers worldwide.
Prayers are made for the flourishing of Kadam Dharma throughout the world so that all living beings might quickly find permanent inner peace.
Above all, we remember the extraordinary kindness of Venerable Geshe Kelsang in founding the NKT-IKBU.
At Heruka Kadampa Meditation Center Fort Collins, we'll engage in Wishfulfilling Jewel chanted prayers and then gather together to watch a videotaped play of Buddha's Life Story. Popcorn will be served for the movie portion of the evening.
Pre-registration is not required, however it is customary to bring a vegetarian food offering to chanted prayer practices that include a tsog offering, if you wish.
