Discussion - Mind and Metaphysical Reality

Thinkers and Drinkers. The topic this week is Mind and Metaphysical Reality. We’ll meet at one of the tables at Verboten North Brewpub. I’ll put a small (Space Force) flag on the table so you know where to go. Verboten has great beer and food as well. Some questions to ponder before the meeting:

1. What is mind?
2. What is mind composed of?
3. Is the mind physical or non-physical or some other category?
4. Is the mind the brain?
5. Do animals have minds?
6. Is consciousness required for minds?
7. Does the world exist independently of minds?
8. Does the mind shape reality?
9. Is reality mental or physical or something else?
10. What does it mean to say something is mental? Physical? Neither?
11. Is the mind dependent on physical bodies (or physical brains) or physical entities? Can the mind exist independently of a body?
12. If the mind is non-physical and the body is physical, or vice versa, how do they interact? (The classic mind-body problem.)
