The launch of the Wood Buffalo Social Business Network is a timely initiative for Fort McMurray, aligning with the region's focus on economic recovery and entrepreneurial innovation
PURPOSE OF THIS ORGANIZATION: Break down silos and take a more holistic approach to resilience. In the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo through social, economic and political networking. Fort McMurray has gone through one of the biggest fire incidents in Canadian history, the 2016 Fort McMurray Fire, the 2020 Flood and the downturn in the Oil and Gas Sector. This has threatened the existence of Fort McMurray as a community This group aims to unify most stakeholders in the Wood Buffalo Community to come together with one voice to make Fort McMurray great again. Economically, socially and politically, through brainstorming and continuous networking and collaboration with all the stakeholders. Many corporate resilience programs consist of a patchwork of systems and under-resourced teams that lack corporate buy-in and support. Yet, they are expected to enable the organization to predict, prepare, manage, and recover from incidents that can is affecting the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo people–or its very future.
