Lakes Park, Fort Myers: the back end where the birds are

Details

It has been a long time: Let's GO!

Rental kayaks are available. See below

This is a very easy 2- to 3-hour, about 5-mile paddle suitable for all abilities and all styles of boats. It is on inland protected fresh water. No tides or current!

Lakes Park, https://www.leegov.com/parks/parks/lakespark , is built around a lake that was a quarry. Parking Fee is $1 per hour or $5 per day. A Lee County parking sticker is good. There is no charge for this Meetup Event.

The rarely visited north section of the lake is home to many birds. Maybe they will be at home. Cameras ready? See the Google map.

We will meet at the boat ramp by the west parking lot & end of the driveway (left as you enter the park from Gladiolus Dr). I will wear my "signature" orange shirt.

Rental kayaks are available. https://wheelfunrentals.com/fl/fort-myers/lakes-regional-park/rentals/ Check them before. Open at 10am.

We will be launching at the south end and paddling by the two rental locations, some time after 10:30. You can paddle along the shore to your left to meet us, if you like.
***********

Bring water, camera, and sun protection, maybe a snack. Some of us will be picnicking after the group paddle.

Event organizers of the Fort Myers Area Kayaking Group are not professional guides or instructors. You are responsible for your own safety. Kayaking, like any activity on the water, always involves risk.
