Imperial River, Bonita Springs (rentals available)

Details

This is an easy 3-hour, about 7-mile, out and back, paddle suitable for all abilities and all styles of boats. It is on inland protected fresh water. Limited current! (Unless it has been raining, then it can be fast.)

We will put into the Imperial River in downtown Bonita Springs (just west of Old 41 Rd) and paddle, east, upstream past I-75 to Cullum's Trail Park (there is a landing there to stretch legs; above there the river is mostly straight canal). Then return. Any who wish to, can end there. Others may go down stream and turn up Oak Creek, and finally return to the launch.

Rental kayaks are available right there from CGT Kayaks. You MUST reserve online ahead of time: NO walk ins. www.CGTKayaks.com

There are two available launch points. Riverside Park (& CGT) has a dock and slip. But it is a long carry from the driveway and parking. (Rentals have it easy.) Depot Park, to the west, has a shorter carry, but only a sandy "beach" : 1 kayak wide.

Plan to be on the water by the Riverside Park dock ready to go at 10. I'll be wearing my trademark orange shirt.

There is no charge for parking or launching at either launch.

Bring life jacket, water and sun protection, maybe a snack.
