What we’re about

FIRST GAME OF THE 2024 SEASON
Spring has sprung! And our 2024 Season (17 years running) will begin on Thursday, May 23rd at 6:30 PM and continue each Thursday evening until October.

GREAT SOFTBALL, BUT EMPHASIS IS ON FUN
The Foulies play pick-up softball Thursday evenings at Templeton Park in East Vancouver. We have absolute beginners who have never played, up to more serious and skilled players. This creates a great mix and some surprisingly competitive games with good play. But the emphasis is truly on fun, meeting new people and enjoying summer/fall evenings.

We are an easygoing bunch and not too serious about our softball. Still, we welcome good play at all levels. If you don't know anything about the game, we're happy to teach you.

We supply three of the four B's: Bats, Balls and Bases. Members supply the fourth B. If you need a glove, we have spares. Or someone will happily loan you a glove when their side is up to bat.

A bit of history...we originated in 2007 as a league team, known then as the Foul Balls. After making the playoffs (which was a minor miracle - we checked to see if Hell had frozen over) and then wringing our hands about winning, we realized there was too much pressure that interfered with more important things like socializing, beverage enjoyment and just having a good time in the sunshine. Thus we decided to play weekly pick-up games with anybody welcome, no matter what their skill level.
Please note that we are dedicated to providing a safe, inclusive, welcoming, and harassment-free space and experience for all participants. If you're overly competitive, demanding and/or intolerant of errors on the field, you're better suited for a league environment.

Because the emphasis is truly on fun and enjoying good company, we adhere to the Meetup Code of Conduct, as follows:

All players will refrain from any behaviour that constitutes harassment, where harassment is defined as non-verbal conduct, or verbal or written comment directed towards an individual or group, which is offensive, abusive, racist, sexist, degrading, intimidating, or malicious. Types of behaviour that constitute harassment include, but may not be limited to: written or verbal abuse, threats, obscene gestures, condescending behaviour, mockery, or personal insults which are intended, or are reasonably known, to undermine self-esteem. Written or verbal defamation, or derogation of an individual or group to any third party during or after meetup events.  Retaliation or threats of retaliation against an individual who reports harassment. Bullying. Unwelcome or malicious teasing. Offensive or intimidating phone calls or emails. Inappropriate physical contact or unwelcome sexual attention. Words or actions which are known or should reasonably be known to be offensive, humiliating, demeaning or intimidating. In general, if someone asks you to stop, then stop. Members are expected to treat each other with civility and respect.
