The Active Record Pattern

Details
Martin Fowler outlined the Active Record Pattern in his book Patterns of Enterprise Application Architecture, which was released on my 35th birthday in 2003. The following year, David Heinemeier Hansson used the Active Record pattern as the Object Relational Mapper (ORM) in the Ruby on Rails framework. We'll talk about the basic pattern, its usage in Rails, and some enhancements Rails developers have added to it over the years.
