This is going to be approx.,40 km (estimation only) challenging hike that makes up the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge. It is going to be approx., 1600 m total elevation gain. There are going to be incredible views covering the peaks of Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside, and Ingleborough, this test of endurance will reward you with the very best of what Yorkshire will offer you. This is also a great hike for those preparing for Three peaks challenge or other intensive hikes or if you just want a challenge. Please note - we will aim to complete this in 12 hours (or daylight) while enjoying the views and taking pictures etc. since we won’t be visiting this spectacular scenery often completion time is not going to be a specific focus.
We will be meeting at 7:30 am on 27th July 2024 at BD24 0HE and close to this postcode is Car Park which is just a 150m away where you can park.
The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge takes on the peaks of Pen-y-Ghent (694 metres), Whernside (736 metres) and Ingleborough (723 metres), usually in this order. These hills form part of the Pennine range, and encircle the head of the valley of the River Ribble, in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
There will be regular short breaks during the hike so don’t worry. It will be at a fast to medium pace. I aim to finish in the daylight (however, this may depend on the group's overall dynamics). Please make sure to wear hiking boots/shoes and carry at least 2 liter of water if possible (refill at every given opportunity) and packed lunch and a torch. The walk is completely free.
Remember the following:
- Don’t be late and reach on time.
- Bring lunch and snacks.
- Bring a torch in case we finish late.
- Be nice to each other.
- Listen to the event host at all times.

We will get our well-deserved pint and maybe dinner at a pub at the end.
