# Co-Ed Beach Flag Football — Fun, Fitness & Good People

Come join us for casual co-ed beach flag football. This group is for men and women who want to have fun, get exercise, meet new people, and enjoy playing football on the beach.
All levels are welcome. You do not need to be a serious football player. As long as you can run a little, catch a football most of the time, and bring a good attitude, you’ll fit in.
The main goal is simple: have fun, get some exercise, and play safe.

## What to Bring

Please bring:

  • A good attitude
  • Water
  • Sunscreen
  • Comfortable athletic clothes
  • A towel if you want
  • Any snacks or extra drinks you may need

## Additional Info

Please RSVP as early as possible. This helps encourage other people to join and gives us a better idea of how many players to expect.
If you RSVP “yes” but later cannot attend, please change your RSVP to “not going” so we can plan teams correctly.
Please arrive on time if possible so we can organize teams and start the game smoothly.

## Main Safety Rules

We play zero-contact flag football.
This is beach flag football, not tackle football. Safety comes first at all times.
Please follow these rules:

  1. No tackling
  2. No pushing, shoving, or body checking
  3. No aggressive contact
  4. No diving into people
  5. No reckless plays that could injure another player
  6. No arguing over calls
  7. No taunting or aggressive behavior
  8. Respect all players
  9. Keep it friendly and fun

Players should make foul calls when appropriate. Please respect other people’s calls. If there is a disagreement, the organizer will make the final decision so the game can keep moving.

## No Moving Blocks

If we allow blocking, it will be screen blocking only.
This means you must stand still in place and act as a screen. You cannot move into another player, push them, bump them, or block aggressively.
The other player must have enough space and time to avoid contact.

## No Over-the-Back Plays

The space above and around a player belongs to that player.
You may not jump over, reach through, crash into, or come through the back of another player to make a catch, grab a flag, or defend a pass.

## No Contact With Defenseless Receivers

A receiver is considered defenseless while trying to catch the ball.
Defenders must avoid running into receivers, especially from behind or from the side while the receiver is turning to catch the ball or run upfield.
Go for the flag only after the player has control of the ball and becomes a runner.

## Basic Rules

We play casual, no-contact beach flag football.
Depending on how many people show up, we may adjust the teams, field size, and format. The goal is to make the game fun, fair, and active for everyone.
Basic format:

  • Co-ed teams
  • No-contact flag football
  • Everyone gets a chance to play
  • Teams may rotate players if we have extra people
  • The offense gets a set number of downs to move the ball
  • No tackling or aggressive blocking
  • The defense goes for the flag, not the body
  • The organizer may adjust rules depending on the number of players and skill levels

This is a friendly game. We are not here to argue, show off, or play overly aggressive. We are here to have fun, exercise, and meet good people.
TD's are worth 6 points for men and 7 points for women. An extra point from the 5 is worth 1 point and from the 10 2 points. Its always 2 for women regardless of the distance.
If you make aggressive contact with a defenses receiver it's an automatic 1st down and the ball is placed at the the spot of the fool. If its very light accidental contact, that causes them to miss the catch, we redo the down.
QB's can't scramble past the line of scrimmage.

## Parking / Location

We will meet on the beach in South Mission Beach near Lifeguard tower 11 or 12. Parking near the beach is limited so unless you get really lucky I recommend parking at Bonita Cove Park. There's lots of free parking there and it's about a 15 minute walk to South Mission Beach.
