Tired of swiping? Of an emotional roller coaster that online dating can be? Or have you tried dating events where you spent $50 for a poorly run event and were left wondering what you even paid for?

I've been looking for something well-organized, free, and low-pressure. For me, if you can't find it, you make it :)

This is a completely free group for single men and women in their 30s or 40s who'd rather meet people in real life. Events are simple and low-pressure, like walking the seawall in small rotating groups, so you meet lots of new people without the intensity of one-on-one speed dating.

I hope you'll join for a chance to get outside, have some fun, and maybe meet someone you click with.

Walk & Talk Singles Event

The event is a walk and talk (from Science World to Granville Island and back). It is a great way to get some exercise, some fresh air, enjoy our beautiful city, and maybe meet someone special!

Itinerary:

1. We will meet outside of Science World and do a brief icebreaker activity.
2. We will break into groups of 4 (2 men and 2 women). I'll provide topic ideas to talk about. We'll walk and talk.
3. We will switch groups every 10 minutes. Everyone will get a chance to meet everybody of the opposite gender.
4. After the event, I'll send out a survey where attendees can indicate who they'd like to get to know better. Personally, when I did speed dating it was a pretty big jump from talking to someone for a few minutes to them having my contact info, so the survey will include gentler options like "I'd like to talk more at a future event" or "I'd like to chat on Meetup" and of course an option of "I'd like to share my contact information" for those who want to. I'll send out the matches the next day.
