Discriminatory Changes to Ownership of Emotional Support Animals (ESA’s)
Meetings # 3,828 - Dr. Daniel Herlihy, Author
Dr. Daniel Herlihy, Author of 3 books, will discuss how while service dogs are allowed to fly for free, emotional support animals (ESA’s) are no longer legally protected for free travel on U.S. airlines and are treated as pets. The fees can be as high as $500 dollars for a one-way ticket. He argues that this is short-sighted, discriminatory, and downplays the enormous impact canines play in reducing both physical and emotional impairments. Daniel also points out that this loophole has been applied to apartments with fees exceeding $700 a year to own an ESA.
