FTI: Is that self confidence or Egotism?

I’d argue that a lot of people have difficulty distinguishing between egotism vs. self confidence. Self confidence is a highly desirable trait, but Egotism is a highly undesirable trait. I’ve seen many self confident people actually practice false humility in an effort to avoid being miscategorized as egotistical. Throughout my life I’ve regularly seen people misdiagnose egotists as high self confidence people, and occasionally vice versa (though less often). It’s a known issue that people confuse self confidence and egotism, if you google it you’ll see articles like this:

Egotism is very bad for those under the sphere of influence of the egotist, because they often want to make decisions they’re incapable of making well, whereas self confident people positively impact those in their sphere of influence, by accurately assessing their and others capabilities enabling better decisions to be made within that sphere of influence.
I’d like to try to help create criteria that helps people more accurately differentiate between self confidence and egotism. Here’s my take on how to distinguish between self confidence and egotism:
