freethought (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freethought)- a philosophical viewpoint that holds that beliefs should be formed on the basis of science, logic, empirical evidence and reason, and should not be dictated by authority, tradition, revelation, or dogma. With regard to religion this takes the form of doubt or denial of religious dogma.
Freethought Dayton is made up of atheists, agnostics, skeptics, humanists and people just trying to find rational, secular culture and community.
Hello atheists, agnostics, skeptics, freethinkers, humanists (http://www.americanhumanist.org/Who_We_Are/About_Humanism) and folks just trying to find rational, secular culture and community! Join us for intelligent discussion, speakers, family fun, events, service projects and more. Come and make some new friends. There's no obligation to attend every event, but we keep the calendar full so that everyone has an opportunity to participate.
Our vision is of a society where reason and evidence guide individual and civic principles, and where none suffer prejudice for a commitment to rationality.
Our mission is to nurture a community in the Miami Valley that values secular humanism, promotes and preserves freethought in the public square, provides supportive fellowship, and engages in humanitarian good works.
