Bonjour à tous!
This is a group for anyone who would like to practice or learn French, whether you are based in Edinburgh or elsewhere on the planet (people from other planets welcome too). I am a self-employed, experienced native French teacher and I love sharing my passion for French culture and language learning.
Whether you just want some opportunities to chat and maintain your French or to seriously improve or learn, there will be events of all sorts, but always in a fun and friendly atmosphere!
Some events are free and some others are paid. To attend the free events you can just RSVP here. The paid ones need to be booked on Eventbrite (https://www.eventbrite.com/o/french-to-take-away-68145199493). Don't forget to do so after having RSVP here because you won't be given access to the event otherwise. It should be possible soon to book also on my website www.frenchtotakeaway.com (but not yet, sorry!!).
Here are some regular events that can be on:
Social chats : free, these are online or face-to-face conversations for you to practice your French without any formal teaching or correction. Usually, a topic is decided in advance and discussed on the day.
Other occasional social events : such as brunches/lunches, coffee meetups, walks in the city, visits of museums, cinema meetups, etc.
Practice Workshops : £10, these are workshops designed to get you to practice things you roughly know already in an informal atmosphere. The sessions start with a brief reminder of the rule, and then we practice through informal exercises such as games, quizzes, role plays, etc. The goal : At the end of the workshop, the rule we practiced became more natural and automatic.
Formal training courses and workshops : various prices, check on each event. These are formal courses for those who want to learn fully.
Unless specific circumstances, advertised events will usually go ahead even if there is only one person so do not hesitate to sign up even if you are the only one! First, it encourages others to come too; second, I'm not scary and I'll take care of you as if you were a queen or a king (or maybe this isn't the right comparison considering I'm French?)!
PLEASE NOTE: Put a clear photo of yourself + at least your first name, so we can all recognize each other easily. When you join an online event, turn on your camera so that we can all see your puzzlement when you don't understand something 😜
