Bienvenue !

We are lovers of French language, French culture, customs, traditions as well as its history and diversity.

Created 5 years ago, we are already the biggest French meetup in the USA, 9,000 MEMBERS.

We organize several events a week :

- French Mondays to meet and greet, improve our French conversation skils, and make new connections.

- We also organize Museum Tours in French, mostly at The Metropolitan : "French-with-Art with Anna" invites you to a series of highly engaging interactive and guided art discussion at the MET.

- Wednesdays, we have a weekly French FREE workshop, organized by Ruth.

- Once in a while, Mohammed likes to have a special French Moroccan evening at Kazuza with belly dancers, happy hour specials, hookahs etc.

- NEW : check L'ATELIER THÉÂTRE (https://ateliertheatreny.com/) L'ATELIER THÉÂTRE FRANÇAIS DE NEW YORK

We promote writers, artists, philosophers and food lovers. We also love people who want to talk about areas with strong cultural Francophonie roots, our members are French, Canadian, North and West African, Haitian, Swiss, Belgium and of course American people who like everything French.

Although the official language is French, you do NOT need to speak French to be a member, we will just ask you to be patient with our accent if we try to communicate. Each event has a theme and ideas are welcome.

Flûte Midtown

Dear Frenchies, dear Frenchaises,

French Mondays are BACK !
IMPORTANT NOTE : NO MORE VACCINATION CARD IS REQUIRED. MERCI BEAUCOUP.

The Apéro Art de Vivre will take place at legendary French owned Flute Midtown.
The word “apĂ©ro” is the name for both the ritual of going out for a pre-dinner drink, as well as the sort of drink that you would probably have at such a ritual. Invented by French people, of course.

On top of the Kirs Royal special for $10, we can also get fresh spring rolls for $10 (theyhave four kinds going from $12 to $15) : please mention French New York City (http://www.meetup.com/frenchies). Official language : Franglais. Strongly supported : Français (si possible en alexandrins).

So, join us now by RSVP : Bring whatever French you have, friends, and your business cards as the goal is to meet new members and catch up with our regular meetup family from Brooklyn and Manhattan. So, if you are a newcomer, no worries, all level of French are accepted.

Venue :

Flûte Bar & Lounge opened in midtown Manhattan in 1997, taking over the space that once operated as the notorious speakeasy, Club Intime. At Flûte Midtown, they take champagne out of the nightclub VIP room and bring it into the chic, intimate, comfortable setting of a New York lounge : French apéro art de vivre meets New York City happy hour, and the happy hours take much, much longer.

Flûte Bar & Lounge welcomes champagne lovers, as well as those simply looking for the ideal spot for drinks with friends, to bring a date, to toast a celebration or relax with colleagues. In addition to champagne and sparkling wine, we provide a full bar and a menu of our own specialty sparkling cocktails, as well as small plates.

Join us for this unique opportunity to immerse yourself in fun live interactive online sessions of French and Art! You'll practice your French while learning about the master works from the world's great collections.

You'll have the opportunity to:

  • Practice your French
  • Learn about great works of art
  • Enhance your observational skills
  • Meet other Francophiles
  • And have fun!

You'll receive vocabulary lists as well as the list of works we explore.

We'll be meeting online with Zoom.

Cost: $155 for the 4 session course.

The sessions will be run by me, Anne Willieme. I'm a native English/French bilingual and lecturer at the Metropolitan Museum of Art for over 10 years.

From the participants:

"Anne's interactive French with Art classes are stimulating and fun. Providing her students with the vocabulary they can use to react to the artworks, Anne listens closely to and celebrates each person's input. Patient and complimentary, she has created a safe haven where we are not afraid to make mistakes, as we improve our language skills. I feel that I have greatly developed my observation skills, as Anne encourages us to look deeply into each painting."

"If you wish to practice speaking French while at the same time improving your knowledge of art, French-with-Art is the class for you. Anne is a patient and encouraging facilitator whose small classes ensure that all have an opportunity to participate. She provides relevant vocabulary prior to each class and asks thoughtful questions to encourage interaction. French-with-Art has helped me become more confidant expressing myself in French and has significantly expanded my appreciation of art and its various styles. I would highly recommend it."

SPACE IS VERY LIMITED TO ENSURE INTERACTIVITY!!
