A hike for History Lovers! Tumalo Dam Hike and discussion /lunch afterwards

Bend has an amazing and hilarious history of fiascos in bringing water to this high desert . When our wonderful Lynda took me out to see the towering old dams and the pretty little canyon behind it , I knew thatI just had to share this with you ...There are some rocky and potentially icy or muddy spots on his trail, so pls bring good boots and hiking poles for this 3 mile hike .
BUT THERE IS A PRECONDITION: You need to go to: deschuteslandtrust.org and watch their slide show : THE DAM FIASCO, so that you can really appreciate the folly and grandness of the original dream - and discuss it with us after the hike at Pisano's Pizza, where we will talk about water issues in C.O. past , present and future. BECAUSE THE CANYON IS NARROW AND FRAGILE WE WILL RESTRICT THIS HIKE TO FEWER PEOPLE AND 6 DOGS ( WHO HAVE TO BE ON-LEASH FOR PART OF THE HIKE) in addition to Lynda and me ( and our 2 lil pooches) ..IF YOU CAN'T GO, PLS UN- RSVP AT LEAST 48 HOURS BEFORE , SO OTHERS CAN GO .
