Full Moon Hike up Lava Butte (Dog friendly )

The May full moon, known as the Flower Moon, will illuminate the sky on Thursday, May 23, 2024, heralding the peak of spring and the season of rebirth and renewal.It is always a treat to see a sunset/moon rise from the Lava Butte Lookout You get exercise,(4.5 miles and about 1000ft elevation gain ) watch a sunset and share snacks and drinks with nice folks up high .There is always a nice breeze up there even on a hot day -and we get to look at the mural of all the buttes and mountains in the look out station -and tell stories about our hiking adventures on said mountains and buttes .CHECK IN TH E DAY BEFORE BECAUSE SMOKE AND EXCESSIVE HEAT MIGHT CHANGE OUR PLANS...Dress a bit warmer as it gets cold as the sun sets ...
