Watch the full moon rise on Lava Butte ( dog friendly )

One of the most majestic and beautiful things you can see in Bend’s sky happens this weekend - the rising of the full moon 🌕 The Blue Moon peaks at 1:45 AM on 5/31.PT, but the full moon will start rising right around sunset in the east/southeast at 8:15-8:29 on Saturday 5/30 .Let’s walk up Lava Butte around 7 Pm ( it takes about an hour to make it to the top ) to catch the moonrise and sunset happening almost simultaneously — one of the most dramatic things you can see in Bend’s sky. Please dress warm because there is often a breeze up there and bring some wine or other snacking to share . There is a picnic bench up there where we like to sit and celebrate. Pls check the night before as weather sometimes changes our plans and un- rsvp with plenty of time, so wait listers can take your place .
