Hike Postponement - Weather Update
**Due to the extreme cold weather and potential slick conditions I’ve decided to postpone the December hike until Saturday 12/20/25.
I’ve been waiting to see the 24 hour future forecast before making this call. Temperatures are forecasted to be below zero with wind chill, and there is a chance of precipitation tonight which could lead to slick conditions on the trail.
Nature wins this weekend, but next weekend looks to be much warmer! **
Not only is this the last hike for 2025, but York Woods is the last trail in the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County Trails Guide that our group has yet to hike!!!
I’m overjoyed reflecting on all the fun hikes, coupled with meeting new people over these past 28 months.
This is not an ending, rather a chapter being completed. We have so many unexplored trails at previous locations and different seasons to hike in.
I look forward to the hiking future ahead, and wanted to thank this group for all the great memories made so far. I have explored DuPage Forest Preserves in ways I never thought I would with you!
To accomplish visiting all the preserves was a great short term goal. To see them all again in different seasons and on different paths where available is something I’m looking forward to on future hikes!
Back to this monthly hike, York Woods is a smaller preserve so we will be doing a few loops to take it in over an hour period. Hike starts at 9:05 and we should wrap up sometime after 10am.
