Light Wisely to improve human safety and protect wildlife!
Join the Friends of Rose Creek as we host an enlightening talk by Cathy Handzel, DarkSky San Diego County, Chapter President.
Light pollution is threatening wildlife and ecosystems, impacting human health, and blocking our view of the stars. Learn how birds, pollinators, and other wildlife are negatively impacted by artificial light at night, and what you can do to “Light Wisely” to reduce harmful glare and help restore natural darkness in the night sky. Light pollution is nothing more than bad lighting. We’re the ones that create light pollution; we can choose not to!
Addressing San Diego’s light pollution problem will:
- Increase safety and security with better visibility from neighbor friendly lighting
- Reduce energy waste, save money, protect our planet
- Enable wildlife and the environment to thrive naturally
- Protect us from harmful exposure to artificial light at night
- Allow us to enjoy the beauty and magnificence of the night sky and Milky Way
- Eliminate blight and unsightly glare in our communities
All meetings are open to the public.
