Get down and get dirty on a BRT trail maintenance trip.

“It's fun, it's great exercise, it makes you feel good, and the scenics and camaraderie are unbeatable.”

We invite you to join us on a trail clearing / recon trip to the Pigeon River Section of the Border Route Trail. We'll do a recon and dead fall sweep of this scenic and easily accessible section of the BRT as well as clear brush as needed, scout for a way to bypass a problem wet area on the Otter Lake Cut Off, and do some upgrading on the Pigeon River campsite.

Due to the rugged nature of the BRT and the distances between access points you need to be in good to excellent physical condition.

All community gear such as trail clearing equipment, safety gear, cooking gear, stoves, etc. will be provided. You will be responsible for your own personal gear such as tents, sleeping bags, foam pads, etc. A packing list for summer mechanized trail clearing trips and directions to the Otter Lake campsite are posted on the MU Site under More / Files.

More people will arrive on Wednesday evening to take care of the sections identified as being in need of brushing.

As always, we welcome people to join us for anything from one day to a whole week. Just get in touch with us to work out details.

The trip cost of $55.00 will cover meals from Thursday breakfast through Monday lunch. Car-pool costs will be split with the passengers paying a larger share of the fuel costs than the driver as a way of compensating for the maintenance costs, etc. on the vehicle.

Please note that we cannot properly plan the trip if you do not answer the questions asked when you RSVP. Those people not answering the questions will be placed on the waiting list until the answers are received. If you've already provided this information to us previously this year you can skip the questions.

You may pay your $55 trip fee / deposit via PayPal to Registrar@BorderRouteTrail.org and reference "07/02/14 Otter Lake" or you may write a check in the amount of $55 made out to BRTA and sent to BRTA c/o Ed Solstad, 3701 Pillsbury Ave. So., Minneapolis, MN 55409.

Thanks for helping to maintain one of the most scenic trails in the Upper Midwest.
