Butterfly and Insect walk

Details

On Saturday May 10th, Blake Dinius and FMSSF will offer the first butterfly and nature walk of the year, exploring the treasures that Myles Standish State Forest has to offer. We will be meandering along a gas line that offers open areas offering good habitat for butterflies, damsels and other insects, birds and wildflowers along the way. There will be common species, whose natural beauty is often overlooked. But, who knows? We may even find something rare and never before documented in the county. This will be a slow paced exploratory nature walk and not be like the usual faster paced hikes.

Massachusetts is home to over 100 species of butterfly, and over 3000 types of moths. Blake will bring along a net, so we can closely view what we see along the gas line trail which is a prime viewing area. If you wish, bring along binoculars, and a camera. We will document what we observe and list in the post hike comments.
