This meetup will be held a little bit further from the city centre. The awesome folks at PHPro will host us again in their offices in Kontich.
For this meetup we have two cool speakers line up for you. Frederick Vanbrabant will talk about Blockchain and Vicky Laurijssen will teach us how to use Blackfire (https://blackfire.io/) to discover and fix performance problems in an application.
Don't forget to rate the speakers on Joind.in! https://joind.in/event/php-antwerp---november-meetup-2017

Let’s solve real world problems with blockchain by Frederick Vanbrabant (https://twitter.com/maybefrederick)
Blockchain is quickly becoming the buzzword of the year, but people tend to only link it to cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin. But let’s take a look at some other real world problems we can solve with this technology. In this talk we will take a look at how this technology works and delve into some examples for countering blood diamonds and updating passports.
Speaker: Frederick is a less-than-30-year-old developer from Antwerp with a passion for APIs and everything that surrounds them. He works as a Software Engineer at madewithlove (http://www.madewithlove.be/) and is co-organiser of PHP Antwerp (http://www.meetup.com/phpantwerp/).
Improving performance with Blackfire by Vicky Laurijssen (https://twitter.com/lykciv)
We all know that the performance of our websites is important. Faster page loads will improve the overall user experience. Which in turn will result in more revenue. Your site’s page speed will also influence the ranking of your website in search results. But how do we measure the page load of our sites? And how do we fix any performance problems? You can do this by profiling your website. In this talk, I will explain how you can use Blackfire to profile your website and to improve its performance.
Speaker: Vicky is a PHP developer at PHPro. For the past few years, she has mainly been working on Magento and Symfony projects. Blackfire is her favourite tool for improving the performance of her projects.
