NPM is essential to modern web development, it pulls in dependencies, it runs build tools, it packages, it distributes, it is all things to all web dev people. But is it really impossible to do modern web development without NPM (or Yarn)? What happens when you try to build a React app without NPM, old school style? What is lost and what is gained?
Speaker: Joeri is a Digital Experience Platform architect at AG Digipolis Antwerpen, designing the front-end architecture of all things digital for the city of Antwerp. His web development experience stretches back in an unbroken line across various technologies and roles to his first awkward photoshop tutorial HTML 3.2 website made with notepad in the 90's. In his free time he enjoys reading sci-fi and learning to play the piano.
