About us
Keeping it friendly - Keeping it fun!
Welcome! This meetup is for anyone interested in photography. All abilities are welcome and the emphasis will be on sharing our knowledge in a fun and relaxed way, learning as we explore London and beyond.
It makes no difference whether you have the latest expensive camera gear or a camera phone, come along and we'll find plenty of exciting things to photograph.
Our events will take us to some of the most iconic locations where you can find that “postcard" (or Instagram) shot but we will be looking for more than that, your professional guide will encourage you to use your imagination and get creative with your photography. If you are new to photography you will have the opportunity to understand the subject better and improve your picture-taking.
Under UK Photo Tours, we run multi-day tours and workshops, traveling to England’s picturesque Lake District, photograph nightscapes in Norfolk, rugged Jurassic Coast in Dorset, and Scotland’s incredible Isle of Skye and Glencoe for the breathtaking scenery.
Our wildlife workshops venture to some of the most spectacular wildlife locations in the UK, such as witnessing the birth of Atlantic Grey Seal Pups in Norfolk, charismatic Puffins on the Farne Islands, and the Norfolk Snettisham Spectacular, where over 100,000 wading birds take to the air.
We offer a variety of popular day trips during the year, including:
Stonehenge at sunset
Bodiam Castle
Vintage Airshows
Medieval Jousting
...and we offer workshops on macro photography, astrophotography (including moon photography), bubble photography, and water drop photography.
We look forward to seeing you at one of our events soon.

West Acton, Princes Gardens, London, GB𝐆𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐝𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞!
- Includes accommodation and return transport from London
- Fully insured photography tour operator
- Star trackers and filters to borrow
In this workshop, we’ll be making the most of the dark skies of Norfolk’s Coastal Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, a beautiful protected landscape well known for its lack of light pollution, and boasting two official Dark Sky Discovery Sites.
During the evenings, we’ll explore multiple locations, such as the picturesque Happisburgh lighthouse, windmills, and historic ruins, to search for stunning nightscape opportunities, including photographing the Milky Way and star trails, as well as capturing some bonus sunsets using our sets of award-winning Kase filters (one available to each participant).
We’ll be staying in a spacious modern barn conversion, just 5 minutes from Happisburgh Lighthouse, so we can quickly take advantage of clear skies (see feature image).
It won’t just be the Milky Way we’ll be hunting. In the workshop, we’ll be keeping an eye out for the elusive Noctilucent Clouds, extremely rare high clouds of ice crystals that are lit up to produce a spectacular blue/silver display in the night sky.
What we’ll cover:
- Intro to astrophotography equipment
- Apps used for planning
- How to focus at night
- Settings for correct exposure – manual mode in astrophotography
- Effect of choosing different shutter speeds
- How to combat noise in astrophotography
- High ISO vs single shot with a star tracker
- Use of star trackers
- Light pollution and filters
- Lighting our subjects at night (light painting)
- Editing our pictures using software (Lightroom Classic + plugins, but methods transferable to other software, plus free dedicated astrophotography software)
Equipment to borrow!
To help our workshop participants capture great shots, we have a selection of lenses to borrow, including:- The highly regarded 14mm f/2.8 lenses for Canon EF mount, Nikon F mount, and Sony E mount.
- Multiple Move Shoot Move star trackers that we’ll set up and use to get longer exposures of the sky.
- Astro filters! - Kase Light pollution filter and Kase Star Glow filter.
This astrophotography workshop is a relaxed learning atmosphere and is suitable for beginner photographers with minimal equipment, or intermediate/advanced photographers.
Please note: Participants will need to be able to change their settings in manual mode, such as shutter speed, aperture, and ISO, and be able to switch off the autofocusing on their camera or lens.

Photography Experience Day - Loxwood Joust! (Sunday 2nd August)
Starbucks Euston Tower, Unit 1A Euston Tower Podium, Regents Place, London NW1 3DP, London, al, GBDear Lords, Ladies, and photographic squires!
Loxwood Joust, the U.K.'s most spectacular medieval festival, is back again this year and we will practice some dramatic action photography!
This amazing extravaganza is held in the picturesque woodlands of West Sussex and features full-contact jousting, along with other daring displays of weaponry, including archery, muskets, and cannon fire as armored knights and their retainers prepare to meet in great numbers for the melee on the thunderous battlefield, granting us many photographic opportunities.
You can also "wander the Living History Village, situated in the Mediaeval Meadow, where inhabitants live and work exactly as they would have in the Middle Ages". Peruse their traditional wares in the Mediaeval Marketplace, where traders and hawkers vie for your attention and wandering minstrels, dance troupes, and a court jester entertain the crowds throughout the day." So several interesting and unusual portrait possibilities are available.
Almost 50 re-enactment groups take part in Loxwood Joust each year so it is on a scale, unlike many other medieval events.
Our previous photographic scouts scoured Loxwood for the best photographic spots and opportunities, devising battle tactics to enable you to capture some amazing shots!
You can see some of our past photos of the Loxwood Medieval Joust and battles here.
Please note: There will be a maximum of 7 participants (plus your photo guide) so get in early! The Loxwood Joust event ends around 5.30-6.00 pm, so we expect to leave the event soon after and arrive back in central London around 7 pm.
𝐒𝐮𝐠𝐠𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭:
• Telephoto lenses eg 70-300mm, 70-200mm, 100-400mm, etc (recommended if you have but we'll have multiple telephoto setups for you to borrow – just bring a blank SD card).
• Walkaround zoom (or kit) lens eg 18-55mm, 24-70mm (for environmental portraits and wide battlefield shots)
• Monopods are permitted but likely not required unless bringing a heavy telephoto lens (we recommend handholding the camera).
(No tripods, please.)𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐝:

- Entry ticket for Loxwood Joust
- Photographic tuition at the event

𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐰𝐞❜𝐥𝐥 𝐦𝐞𝐞𝐭:
We'll meet at Starbucks Coffee, Unit 1A Euston Tower Podium, Regents Place, London NW1 3DP, at 8.15 am and we'll talk about what to expect on the day and go through previous photos of the event and discuss settings, composition, etc.
We'll be leaving Starbucks at 8.30 am.Please ensure you check TFL to arrive at the meeting point on time as we will have to leave exactly at 8.30 am sharp. Unfortunately, due to having to purchase the tickets, refunds will be unable to be given if you are late, hence our meeting time is a full 15 minutes before our departure. Please be sure you can attend before RSVPing yes, as refunds can only be given if your place is taken by another participant.
𝐍𝐨𝐭𝐞: This event is combined with 2 other photography Meetup groups that I run so RSVP numbers such as myself +3 means 3 members from the other groups attending.
