Explore Baja California’s pristine coastlines and living sea in search of dolphins, sea lions, and as many as five different varieties of whales. Board local pangas and enter sheltered lagoons for up-close encounters with California gray whale mothers and their newborn calves. Witness an undersea wonderland, serene desert isles, and the most beautiful sunsets on Earth. Hike through towering cacti and up striking desert canyons or take a slow photo stroll along the shore. Every day is different and rewarding, with opportunities to indulge in active or relaxing pursuits.

We will encounter the biggest and most gentle shark in the world, an experience you will never forget! These gentle giants meet in large numbers to feed in the plankton-rich waters of Bahia de La Paz. There are whale sharks almost all year round, but the highest concentration of individuals is between November and April. This natural phenomenon gives people an opportunity to experience one of the most exciting encounters between people and nature. Although Whale Sharks are large in stature, they are harmless, they have no teeth and they eat microscopic plankton and feed filtering water while gulping.

The most amazing thing happens every winter and spring at the gray whale birthing lagoon halfway up Baja. This is an experience not to be missed. It’s phenomenal, extraordinary and mind shattering. These whales will steal your heart when they look you in the eye and swim over to interact. The lagoon and surrounding desert are beautiful, and these trips are done in style.

Every winter, Eastern pacific gray whales migrate home to Baja, Mexico. Males cruise in and out of every bay, harbour, and lagoon in central Baja looking for females. Females do the same. San Ignacio is whale central, with 5,000 to 6,000 whales visiting the lagoon between December and May.

We are also immersing ourselves in the local culture in La Paz, with an incredible street food tour, a premium Tequila & Mezcal Tasting, sea kayaking, paddle boarding and enjoying some ATV Off Roading, sandboarding on nearby sand dunes and snorkeling with Sea Lions... San Ignacio Lagoon in Baja California, Mexico is famous for its friendly and interactive gray whales. These whales, which are known for approaching boats and allowing for gentle interactions, are a unique phenomenon found only in Baja California. They are particularly active during the winter months, making it a popular destination for whale watching. Gray whales in San Ignacio Lagoon are known for being curious and friendly, actively seeking out human interaction. The lagoon is a popular destination for whale watching, with visitors able to see and interact with the whales up close. Gray whales migrate from their Arctic feeding grounds to the lagoons of Baja California to mate, give birth, and nurse their young. San Ignacio Lagoon is a protected marine sanctuary, part of the larger El Vizcaíno Biosphere Reserve and the area is protected by various regulations to ensure the well-being of the whales and the ecosystem. The best time to see gray whales in the lagoon is during the winter months, typically from December to May, with the peak season being from January to April.

In Cabo San Lucas, at the tip of the Baja called Land’s End, lies the Pueblo Bonito Rosé, a luxury beachfront hotel surrounded by the magnificent desert, abundant sea life, inspiring coastline and many activities that Los Cabos has to offer. We arrive to Cabo San Lucas on January 21, 2026 at 12:09pm on American Airlines # 1286. Upon arrival at Cabo San Lucas, we transfer to La Paz, Mexico for 4 nights, where our Whale Shark base will be over the next 4 days. In La Paz, we enjoy two different Whale Shark tours, combined with swimming with the famous sea lions.... We enjoy a day of ATV off-roading and sandboarding on nearby sand dunes, sea kayaking, a fun street food tour and have the chance to join a Tequila & Mezcal tasting... Our visit to La Paz, Mexico is going to be a blast!

After 4 nights in La Paz, we will fly by two charter Cessna Caravan planes to San Ignacio Lagoon on the Pacific Ocean coast for 3 nights in our Luxury Glamping camp. Here, you can enjoy up to 8 different Gray Whale tours during our 3 day visit, where we have the amazing opportunity to interact with these extraordinary Gray Whales. There are no whales more curious in the world than Gray Whales. We will transfer to the Hotel upon arrival in Cabo San Lucas and enjoy our All-inclusive hotel until check-in with free time all afternoon and evening. Whether you prefer Italian cuisine, Asian fare, or American classics, their eclectic variety of restaurants is sure to satisfy your taste buds. Enjoy the vibrant lifestyle of Los Cabos, a ten-minute stroll away, then pamper yourself at the award-winning Armonía Spa. Maybe check out the daily activities which can include things like Salsa lessons, Botanical and Nature Preserve Tours, Cooking or Bartending classes, Water Volleyball and Water Aerobics to name a few. Wildlife Disclosure
We are traveling to two areas to interact with Gray Whales and Whale Sharks at the peak of the season to see these two magnificent species. Historically each year in January and February, travelers see each of these species up close. Due to the fact that these animals are wild and their behavior is not predictable, Fun Happenings cannot guarantee sightings, but the odds are overwhelmingly in our favor to see them, due to the history of previous years.
