This hike is especially for moderately paced hikers. Speedsters welcome to sign up as long as they stay behind the leader.

We'll start out from Santa Rosa County Park, a gateway for both Wildwood and Western Plateau. Leaders' choice hike. Be prepared for anything ... it's a mystery until we get there.

Trailblazing? No; these trails have been trodden before. Nothing new here.

Exploratory? No.

Bushwacking? No, trails are in good shape.

Terrain: Single track, fire-road.

Start Time: Arrive by 5:15PM to leave by 5:25PM.

Estimated Stats: 5-7 miles, 700-1,300'.

Pace: Moderate, about 2.0mph - 2.5mph overall average. Participants stay between leader and sweep. No rushing ahead, no tigers or turtles.

Bring: Water, snack, first aid kit. We return before dark, but for evening hikes, you should always bring a headlamp.

Wear: Layers, hiking shoes/boots with lug soles.

Dogs: Leashed dogs welcome if they can stay still while horses pass us. Open space rules: leash under 6' and please clean up after your dog.

Meeting Place: From Santa Rosa Road, turn south on Hill Canyon Road. Go 1/2 mile and park on street, opposite Santa Rosa County Park.

Note: There are restrooms in the park.

Leave nothing of value in your vehicle, at this or any other trailhead.
