I'd like to have a pot luck and recipe swap. During the holidays, if you're like me, you tend to lack a little more self control than usual. You have one too many cocktails, delicious cheesy glutenous treats, and sugary lattes. While it tastes GLORIOUS at the time, the aftermath leaves you a bloated, sluggish pile of yuck. Inevitably, I soon after decide to go on "a cleanse". By cleanse, I don't mean extreme lemon juice, cayenne pepper, broth diet where I eat nothing and then subsequently binge on pizza (though I've done it before and it obviously did not work out so well). I mean, I go back to eating whole, unprocessed foods that make me feel like I'm satisfied without all the other crap. Some people probably call this "clean eating".

So, I'd like to have a pot luck with all types of recipes that lack processed foods (i.e. sauces/dressings bought in a bottle in store, high fructose corn syrup, things with lots of sugar), gluten, peanuts, dairy, soy, caffeine, alcohol. (Those are the main ones we will focus on but I've seen people go as far as all organic, nonGMO, no eggs, rice, nuts, etc. You can certainly do that if you want but for the purposes of the meetup we'll just stick to the first few mentioned.) Cleanses typically feel restrictive so I think the more options one has to eat, the less likely it is to cheat. So having a collection of tested recipes on hand will make this MUCH easier!

Pot luck to taste everyone's offerings will be at my apartment - these can be main meals, snacks, desserts (someone brought AMAZING black bean GF brownies to a prior pot luck!). 3-4 days prior, attendees will send me their recipes (to cndefelice@gmail.com) for what they are bringing and I will compile them and print a packet so everyone can go home with all the recipes from the food they ate. Then hopefully we can ALL feel better in the new year after holiday celebrations with lots of healthy options! Since this event is still DURING the holiday season however, please feel free to bring any wine/beer/nonalcoholic beverage you may want to drink/share!
