Various authors define unconscious bias as the unconsciously held, simplifying, and often discriminatory tendencies that occur before conscious thought even begins.
These biases are an inevitable part of our social lives, but they can also become a real burden, especially when they shape judgments, decisions, or interactions unfairly.
In our meeting, we will aim to:
- Explore what unconscious biases are and how many different types exist (e.g., race, age, social status, etc.);
- Analyze real-life examples to evaluate honestly whether you are tend to judge others unconsciously—or whether you yourself are often a target of such bias;
- Review practical techniques for recognizing and protecting yourself when you realize you're being judged based on someone else’s unconscious beliefs.
