"CLIMB ON" (Working Title), a film by Michael Dorame

• Are you an actor? (amateur or comfy being on camera)
• Are you a climber?
• Want your 15 minutes of fame?

We're seeking local talent in the San Francisco area for a 30-minute film about climbing, and falling in love! It will be a serio-comic genre so so comic and serious genre (you don't have to be a professional actor as long as you can be natural on film and are comfortable in front of a camera) Think youtube or TicTok :)

Film Synopsis:
Aaron and Chad, two tech-savvy but socially clueless software engineers, find themselves bored with their routine lives in a bustling tech office. Desperate for excitement, they decide to hit up a new climbing gym, thinking it will be an easy way to get fit and maybe even impress some women. However, their casual, bro-centric attitude quickly backfires when they realize climbing isn't as simple as they thought—and neither are the women they encounter.
After a rough start at the gym, where they struggle to even get on the wall, Aaron and Chad’s attempts to show off are met with eye rolls and a dose of reality from seasoned climbers Denise and Maureen. The women decide to teach the clueless duo a lesson, inviting them to join a real outdoor climb, much to the guys' initial excitement and eventual trepidation. What happens next is life changing....

Climb On is a feel-good comedy that blends humor, adventure, and a powerful message about personal growth and the importance of treating people—and nature—with respect.

Key Roles:
*Aaron & Chad: Male, 21-35, software engineers, overconfident (Chad is super cocky, a male Karen, a tool) but capable of growth, looking for dates at a local climbing gym. Aaron follows Chad around in his shadow, is introverted, shy but has a heart but keeps it hidden until the end of film
*Denise & Maureen: Female, 25-35, experienced climbers, well respected and liked in the climbing community. Somewhat feminists but more about protecting the lands. Both graduated from liberal arts colleges and work for a non profit that protects lands and animals. Kindest souls all about compassion, community and being treated with dignity and respect. Maureen (Mo) is more of a tomboy. Denise is more fem yet quietly tough
*Gym Manager Sarah: Female, 30-45, assertive and safety-conscious
*Front desk staff at Mission Cliffs Lead Climbers
"Park Ranger - Yosemite and Marin Headlands (2)
Lead Organizer and event organizers of a climbing meetup (3) Perky, chatty and friendly. Two males, one female
*Baristas (2) any gender.
*Route setter (1)
Various supporting roles: Climbers, bar staff, fellow tech workers, Karens, retail workers, drag queens etc.

We also need a crew:
Social media/marketer, a second camera person, an editor, a musician, a fundraiser, a production assistant

Pay:
This is a local, independent production. While this is an unpaid opportunity, it offers great experience and exposure in the SF film and climbing communities.At this time we might only be able to pay you with REI gift cards or climbing swag and credit, public accolades in film and marketing

Audition Details:
Date: Thursday, Sept 5. Time: 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM Location: Mission Cliffs Rock Climbing Gym, San Francisco (or Sports Basement on Bryant street)

What to Expect:

• Intros
• Explain plot details
• Cold readings in pairs
• Potential for basic movement/climbing tests (no experience necessary)
• Brief interviews about your background and interest in the project
• Things you will need
• Headshot and resume (if available) or make a plan to send a face and climbing photo ahead of time via email with name, email and or cell # along with any acting or performing experience and
• Be prepared to demonstrate any climbing experience you have. You should be able to top rope OR sport lead OR trad climb
• Comfortable clothing suitable for movement
