A warm welcome to the Chesapeake Mòd, a celebration of Scottish Gaelic song, culture and heritage.
Are you ready to immerse yourself in the rich culture of Scottish Gaelic (Gàidhlig) language and song? The Chesapeake Mòd will feature Gàidhlig language and song workshops for beginners and more advanced learners led by experienced instructors, as well as a friendly song competition that you can watch or join in as a participant.
Schedule:
##### 9 am: Doors open
9:30 am: Welcoming and opening song by Emma MacLeod and Iain Cormack
10 am to Noon: Morning Workshops
- Introduction to Gàidhlig (beginners) – Taught by Scott MacIlleMhoire (Morrison)
- Gàidhlig Conversation (intermediate/advanced) – Taught by Liam Ó Caiside (Cassidy)
11 am:
- Scottish Gaelic Songs – Taught by Emma MacLeod or Iain Cormack
- Competing at a Mòd: What to Expect – Taught by Emma MacLeod or Iain Cormack
Noon: Lunch (included)
1:30 pm: The Mòd Competition
A communal Song Sharing will follow the competition and awards ceremony to conclude our day

- At Mòd Chesapeake, you can learn Scottish Gaelic songs and stories and experience the performance of Gàidhlig song in the competition.
- We want to encourage people to learn Gàidhlig and use it in every part of their lives.
- Gàidhlig is all about community, and Mòd Chesapeake is an opportunity to be included in a very passionate, inspiring community of Gàidhlig learners at all levels, from the fluent to people who are just starting out. There’s a place for you here.
- As a special feature this year, our guests, Royal National Mòd Gold Medal winners Emma MacLeod and Iain Cormack, will sing during the Mòd and lead two of the workshops.
