For those that wanted to do an outdoor adventure, and preferably one where we don't fry, here's what I consider the best tubing option in northeast Georgia. Toccoa Valley Campground is about an hour west of Dawsonville, but you get to spend about 2+ hours on the river. The first half is relatively casual, and then the back half has more rapids, plus there is at least one spot where you can pull over and just chill and soak for a spell. (And layer on more sunscreen!) If we wish to do a meal afterward we can either hit Dawsonville or Dahlonega on our return or extend the day by going into Blue Ridge. I'm flexible.
The cost is $18 per person if you book online, which you can do at the TVC web site as well as learning more details about their arrangements, FAQs, etc.. There are changing rooms and bathrooms at their facility. If anyone has any questions about the river or has issues signing up, just let me know.
For anyone wanting to carpool or convoy, I'm suggesting we meet at the Kroger parking lot of GA 400 in Dawsonville (378 Marketplace Pkwy, Dawsonville, GA 30534) by 9 AM. If we wanted to dine when we get back there are plenty of eateries in that area.
