Day Trip - Historical Walking Tour of Madison GA! (Weather Permitting)

Let's take a day trip to this historic town! We'll shop the shops, eat lunch, and then take a walking tour of the homes using the audio tour guide provided on the app. For $15, you can purchase a bundle ticket for a tour inside three historic house museums along the walking tour.

This self-paced walking tour guides you along a mile and a half tour of the Madison Historic District. Take in the beautiful historic buildings and homes while discovering their stories. Charge your step counter, put on your walking shoes, and let’s get ready to explore!

Tentative Itinerary:

Meet at the Welcome Center at 10:45AM
Explore the downtown shops - 11AM to 12:15PM
Grab lunch: 12:30PM to 1:30PM
Take the walking tour: 1:45PM to 3:45PM
Depart: 4PM

WELCOME CENTER:
Open daily, the Welcome Center team is available to provide information on lodging, attractions, dining, events and more. Public restroom facilities are also available.

USING THE WALKING TOUR:
Your first stop is at the Welcome Center. There are two easy options to navigate through the stops:
List View: Here you can click on each stop for an audio or written description and view a selection of historic photos related to each home or building. Then click the “Next Stop” button to move on to the next site or click the location icon if you need to quickly access directions or to find the current stop. When using the map navigation, you may use the back button to return to the tour.

Map View: Use the “Map” button above to orient yourself and view all stops on the tour. From the Map page, you may click on each numbered stop to get directions by clicking the address or “Learn More” for audio descriptions and photos of the stop.

PARKING:
Free parking is available in downtown Madison. There is additional parking available Monday-Saturday at the Madison Methodist and Baptist churches, located two blocks south of downtown Madison.

PHOTOGRAPHY:
You are welcome to use your cameras to help document your visit to Madison. However, keep in mind that most of the homes on the walking tour are privately owned and lived in. Please, be considerate of the homeowner’s right to privacy and security. For security purposes, most of the museums request only exterior photographs be taken.
